Letter from the outgoing Coordinators of the BPS Parents and Friends Committee

We (Vicky Loie and Nicole Wernert) current Coordinators of the BPS Parents and Friends Committee) are announcing our intention to retire from the Parents and Friends Committee, effective from the next Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Having lead the PFC since 2018 (and been part of PFC for a number of years before that) we do feel it is time for new leadership, ideas and enthusiasm to lead the PFC in 2021 and beyond.  We are proud of what we and the PFC team have achieved and will miss being so close to all the action.  However, due to increased personal commitments, we do need to step down from our current roles and give other parents in our community a chance to step into the role.

We invite all members of the BPS community to consider what they could bring to the Parents and Friends Committee. As well as the role of President (currently ‘Coordinator’), the roles of Treasurer and Secretary are up for election and other non-elected roles are also available on the committee. We believe that the time is right for new leadership to shape a new agenda for fundraising and social events at BPS.

While we are retiring from the Committee, both of us still have children at BPS and will be available to provide support and substantial handover. We are also happy to answer any questions you may have about the Parents and Friends Committee and available roles, in the lead up to the AGM (please email bps.parentsfriends@gmail.com).

We would like to thank all of the members of the current committee for joining in and showing up with enthusiasm for creating great social and fundraising events – we’ve had a lot of fun working with you and will very much miss the team spirit!  We would also like to thank the staff at BPS, in particular the executive and office teams, for their support and practical assistance – we couldn’t have done any of the events without you!

And finally, we would like to thank every parent or carer who put their hand up to be class rep, volunteer at an event, or support an event in some way… it has very much been a community effort and we are very proud of what the BPS has achieved in terms of fundraising and community building.

Thank you,

Nicole Wernert & Vicky Loie

Please note: The Announcement of the AGM & Election will be sent out via Compass as soon as the date is confirmed.

2021 Parent Class Reps Needed

We need parent volunteers to become Class Reps and we encourage all parents to give it a go, no experience necessary. It is a fantastic way to connect with other parents and grow our friendly BPS community.

We need a minimum of one Parent Class Rep for each class, however we find 2 makes a good team. The role will also be supported by the Parent Representative Coordinator, should you require any assistance.

A Parent Class Representative's main responsibilities include:

> organising class social events for parents and the children

> organising teacher gifts at the end of the year

> supporting any special requests or communication at a class level

Any questions or problems signing up online, please contact the Class Representative Coordinator via bps.parentsnetwork@gmail.com.
