Grade 6 Camp
Grade 6 Camp

Thank you all for the very warm welcome! It has been so lovely to meet staff, students and families over the last couple of weeks. An extra big thank you to those of you who have gone out of your way to come and say hello, and introduce yourself. It is so appreciated, and I am doing my very best to remember some names.

I was lucky enough to be invited up to Grade 6 camp, I could only stay one day, but it was an action packed day and lots of fun! I was so impressed with all of the students and staff, it was such a great atmosphere and so well organised.

I went on a day when they were doing some incredible, and challenging, activities. Ones that really required you to be brave, and to step outside of your comfort zone. I was blown away by the attitudes of the students. Not only did they all have a go, even if they were scared, but they also cheered each other on in the most beautiful way.

Sometimes as an adult I enjoy my comfort zone a little too much. Maybe by sending a text message, instead of making a phone call. Or maybe by quietly standing by myself, instead of starting a conversation with someone. Or even by trying to do things on my own, instead of reaching out for help when I need it. I found myself inspired by these brave young go getters, as I watched them expand their comfort zones by the second! Camp was the perfect setting for them to take these safe risks, and I’m so glad that they had their friends championing them on.

I am really excited to be working at such a great school, one which provides a safe space for all to be bold and brave in their own way. I am looking forward to playing my role in that process as well. If I can ever be there for you, to cheer you on, or support you as you face a challenge, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Have a great week!

Carly
