VCE Students' Art displayed in Tunnel Vision Exhibition

“Art is the language of the Soul”. We are all surrounded by art in our everyday life. Art not only holds the magic to entertain but also helps us to generate new thoughts and strengthens our self-confidence in our ability to create. Doncaster Secondary College has always encouraged students to express themselves. We are proud of our VCE International Students who studied Art, Visual Communication, Media, Systems Engineering and Product Design. Our Art teachers and students have worked hard to create the VCE Exhibition in Tunnel Version which recognises the hard work of students even during such a challenging year. The program was designed to allow the opportunity for the students within these study areas to present their innovative artistic works, which will are being exhibited in the College's Tunnel Vision exhibition.

The ISP team have been working tirelessly to support our International Students at Doncaster Secondary College and always encourage students to participate in available programs. Since the built-up excitement of the opening of the Art Exhibition, we can see that our International Students are eager to display their illustrations.

This art is the snapshot of what I have learned during this term. I felt so excited when I was designing this artwork. My inspiration was based on the ground concepts of some famous features on the internet, which show cultures from various countries. I felt I could master my knowledge by examining those works of art.

We were astonished by the level of talent that was exhibited by our cohort this year. It makes us so proud to see how our students have developed their skills and the masterpieces they've been able to create.

Homestay Christmas Gifts

Our International Student Program staff have given all International Students who live with homestays a Christmas gift bag to take home to their homestay families on behalf of Doncaster Secondary College. We want to express our gratitude for their extra efforts on supporting International Students during a challenging year. We're ever so appreciative of their generosity and care that has made our students’ lives much easier this year.

The response from homestays was overwhelmingly positive. We've received many thank you messages and they've also asked me to thank the DSC community.

Life-Saving Victoria Water Safety Sessions

As summer is quickly approaching and with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, it is very enticing for our students to visit the beach.

To ensure the safety of our students,  a water safety session was held for all our Junior International Students. Earlier in the year, in August, there was another session specifically for our Senior International Students. Thank you Ramzi for conducting the session for us - it was very well received by our students!

It made me notice things that I always forget when I’m at the beach like reading the signs. Also I actually now understand what it means by swimming between the flags.

The session was really helpful to all of us who attended as it prepares us for this summer vacation. From what I remember: swimming between the flags, do not swim alone, and also do not swim at the rip currents. Plus, suncream is recommended.

Water safety is a really important issue during our daily life especially in Australia because swimming is one of the most popular leisure activities here. During our water safety seminar, I have learnt about many interesting topics from the various dangerous situations and how to deal with it to where I can find the saving team. It's a really good chance to learn about it and thank you international team for providing us with such interesting experiences.
