WELLBEING

The Wellbeing Hub

Welcome back - Director of College Wellbeing and School Counsellor

A warm welcome back to you all for 2021. The College is vibrant and full of life with the beginnings of our Junior School. We’ve had kindergartners settling in to a new routine, year 6 excitedly looking to fulfil leadership positions and we also welcome a great group of eager year 7’s to our Secondary school. We also welcome back our Year 12’s who embark on their final year of schooling.

The focus over the year is to build our new K-12 wellbeing framework. This is an exciting time of change and the focus will be on ensuring a continuity of care from kindergarten to year 12. Students, staff and parents will play an integral role in building this framework with your insights, suggestions and comments being invaluable to the end result. Please keep a look out for notifications on opportunities to contribute and know that doing this, even amongst your busy schedules, will be most beneficial to the future of the College.

A message from Mrs Lehman

What a time to have arrived! If you somehow missed the exciting change, our welfare structure is now based around mentor groups and houses. We also have myself joining the team as Director of College Wellbeing, a new Head of Secondary School, Mr Ingold and Mr Richardson filling the Guidance Officer that focuses on academic and wellbeing support. In the morning your young person meets in their homeroom with a mentor teacher. These are designed to further support the unique special interests of our students and a group structure designed to facilitate a caring environment that transcends year groups. Further supporting the mentors and homerooms are our new Heads of House. They play a crucial role in overseeing any wellbeing concerns in their respective houses and collaboratively working towards ways to support those in need. If you have an issue that the school needs to know about or you are concerned about the welfare of your child in any way, their homeroom or mentor group teacher is the best place to start!

Thank you for the warm welcome I have received and best wishes for the year ahead.

A message from Mr Lance

For those of you who are new, the College also has me.  I am the College Counsellor and am here full time.  Please feel free to give me a call anytime if you have any concerns about the welfare of your child. Students are able to make appointments with me themselves by email or by dropping into my office which is located in Building 1. Teachers and parents can also refer to me or request that I have a catch up with students. The easiest way to contact me is via email: Michael.Lance@trac.nsw.edu.au

I have also developed a wellbeing website for the College. It has helpful links to support and information around staying mentally healthy. As a welfare team, we will be writing regular articles for each newsletter covering interesting and relevant wellbeing topics.

Once again, welcome to a very exciting new school year and God bless.
