HEAD OF JUNIOR SCHOOL

It is with great pleasure that I write my first article for the College Newsletter. As this academic year opens, I welcome students, families and teaching staff to our new Junior School learning community. We are overwhelmed with the community's interest in enrolling their children at our school and have 182  new students starting school with us this year.

Our transition to a new school program has provided our new learners with a sense of belonging whilst acknowledging their prior knowledge, skills and experiences. Through the implementation of this approach, students have settled into their new school calmly and enthusiastically. This wellbeing focus will remain a priority within our classrooms throughout the year.

The Junior school staff deserve a special mention for their outstanding effort to prepare for the new school year. Teaching staff attended several Professional Development days that covered learning space design principles, curriculum, blended learning models, innovative teaching and learning, wellbeing and school culture. Our team’s diverse skills and experience ensured our collaborative planning days resulted in the design of robust and creative approaches to learning and teaching. Our Junior School team is looking forward to engaging with the community through various planned events across the year. The College will communicate details of upcoming events through Compass, Facebook and Email.
