From Our Classrooms

YEAR 5 REPORT
On Wednesday 21 November, all year 5 students attended an incursion conducted by Supreme Incursions on leadership and team work. There were four activities that helped us work in strong teams. Daniella was our instructor, she helped us organize the activites as teams and put us into groups with leaders in each group. The teams each had a leader to keep them organised and to lead the activities.
Some activities were trust building games, with a maze you had to do with a blindfold. Your partner had to guide you through the maze surrounded by coloured dots, an egg and spoon in your hand blindfolded in a circle, and the balance balls. Continuing with activities, we participated in a communication exercise in which you had to get the elastic around a ball using the ropes which connected, to apply pressure to the elastic and ball to get it into the bucket.
In the next activity, you had to use the silk parachute to launch the oversized ball into the air and back onto the suit, and the highest score without dropping the ball was 41.
Lastly, we participated in an activity where we had to build a balancing beam across the hall to get to the other side without falling off, using parts from a balancing snake, and get to the other side with all the blocks with you and rebuild the pyramid.
During the last few weeks many brave grade five students have applied for school captain positions. Those students have presented speeches to the year level, teachers and grade four classes, as well as Mrs Foster and Mrs Plumb. Everyone spoke beautifully, so well done to all for your hard work and courage in standing up in front of a large crowd and speaking so confidently. It was great to see all of us encouraging and supporting each other, too! Boys and girls were short listed to the next stage, and these students did an interview with the principals and teachers.
Well done to all the applicants, and good luck.
We would like to thank Daniella from Supreme Incursions for running these wonderful activities for the grade 5 students, and the grade 5 teachers for organising for Daniella to come to the school.
