From The Principal

END OF YEAR

End of year is fast approaching, and in the coming weeks there are still excursions planned, as well as class parties and graduation. This week is our last week for SAKG. We would love the Year 2 families to visit the SAKG this Thursday afternoon for their open day, so that you can meet Bree Townsend and Angel Munro who run our programs. The work which the staff and students do in the SAKG is amazing, but we need parent and family support to maintain it.

We would love to involve any grandparents, whether they have grandchildren in Year 3 or 4 or not. They may have some expertise that we would love to know about in either the kitchen or the garden.

Please bring them along on Thursday if they would like to be involved.

2019 CLASS ORGANISATION

The school is currently completing the makeup of next year’s classes. The first criteria is that each child is placed with at least one person that they nominated they could work well with. Sometimes this may not be who their parent thought they may nominate. Your child’s current teacher will place them where they think they will do their best. There are lots of pieces of information and observations that are taken into consideration, and we ask that you support our decisions. Your support of your child can be enhanced by receiving news of their placement with enthusiasm and encouragement.

For 2019, we will be running 23 classes.

All classes will be straight grades. The classes and teachers are as follows:

MPS VOLUNTEERS AFTERNOON TEA

Next week, on Tuesday afternoon, we will hold a special afternoon tea as a ‘thank you’ to parents and volunteers who have helped teachers in their programs throughout the year.    We value all of  our parent, grandparent and school friends who give their time to the SAKG, class reading, excursions and who act as class coordinators, to name just a few roles undertaken, and we look forward to meeting many of you next week.

SCHOOL COUNCIL

On Monday night we held our final school council meeting for 2018 and I am sure the whole school community would like to thank the members for their hard work during the year.

Phil Gardiner, our School Council President, is finishing his position, as his daughter moves on to secondary school, and we would like to say thank you for his years supporting our school community.
