Safer Internet Day 2021

On Safer Internet Day (9 Feb) the world comes together with a shared vision of making online experiences better for everyone.

This week St Joseph’s Primary School is celebrating Safer Internet Day by participating in a variety of online activities.

We are making sure we all start our school year by being Respectful, Responsible and Safe on the internet.

Year 1

Year 1 spent the morning learning about how to be safe on the internet by keeping our personal information to ourselves and not sharing it to people we don’t know. Students viewed and responded to an E-safety video, discussing who is trustworthy and who they can trust with their special information in their lives.

Year 2

Year 3

Year 3 enjoyed their informative and engaging activities and webinar regarding ‘Fake News, Real Harms’. They were able to decipher the legibility of different websites and decided accurately for themselves what websites to trust for factual information.

Year 4

In 4J, the webinar ‘Fake News, Real Harms’ taught us what trustworthy information looks like, how to spot misinformation/fake news and the actions we can undertake to discover the legitimacy of a website.

Year 5

Is it FAKE or REAL information?

5J enjoyed participating in the eSafety webinar “Fake News,Real Harms” for Safer Internet Day.

In 5M, we have been learning about being safe and responsible digital citizens. We watched the show ‘Game On’ and participated in a webinar with lots of other schools around the country. We started designing our own posters to share our top tips on how to stay safe online. Click here to see a few of our posters!

Year 6

Year 6 created posters for the younger students of St Joseph’s so that they could understand the Responsible Use of Technology Agreement that all students signed at the beginning of the year. The three focus areas were respect yourself, respect others and respect property.
