                                                           A Final 2020 Message

Dear Sacred Heart Community

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our Sacred Heart families, a relaxing and safe holiday break; I hope the Christmas festivities give you the chance to spend some quality time with your loved ones.

I would like to congratulate our Sacred Heart community, on the manner in which you have embraced our 2020 school year. From the enthusiasm and diligence of our beautiful students, the trust and informed cooperation of our parents, and the passion of our staff, it has been a challenging year like no other, but in its own way, a successful year.

Last Thursday evening, we farewelled our Year Six students with a beautiful Spirit Filled Mass. The Graduation Mass was a celebration of each student’s contribution to the life of our school, an opportunity to reflect upon their time at Sacred Heart and their growth into young teenagers.

On the night, the efforts of four of our students were acknowledged with the receiving of awards. Congratulations to Anthea and Sean upon receiving the “RSL Award” for outstanding character and leadership, Isaac who received the “Jed Carney Award” for resilience and Wendy who received the inaugural “Good Samaritan Award” for her personal values of care and compassion.

On behalf of our Sacred Heart School family, I would like to wish every member of our graduating class every success and happiness as they embark on the next exciting stage of their life journey.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the following families who have their last child departing our school this year. Thank you for the trust you have placed in our school, support and willingness to work with us. We also wish you every success and happiness for the future.

Congratulations to our 2021 school leaders who were announced at last Thursday’s Mass. I know that our School Captains Anni and Thomas and Vice School Captains Hanna and Jakob will be great role models for our younger students, and will represent our school with fine example.

As detailed in previous correspondence, our students will meet their class and teacher for 2021 today. You will be informed of this by letter today, along with your child's self reflection on their year. Parents who have requested a hard copy of their child's report will have one sent home with their child today. For all other families, reports can be accessed online today.

As we say goodbye to our students today and wish them a great holiday, you can celebrate your child’s achievements for this year and look forward to another year of growth and achievement in 2021.

A couple of final reminders:

• On Christmas Eve we have the traditional family Mass being celebrated in the school grounds commencing at 7.00pm. The congregation will be restricted to 300 so as to keep with the COVID protocols. Please either see the parish website or contact the presbytery if you wish to register a place. Registration will also take place on the night.

• A reminder that school resumes for all students on Thursday 28th January 2021.
