Junior News

Check out our new classroom furniture!

Last week Juniors were excited to find new tables had been delivered to our classrooms. Our new tables not only look fantastic and brighten our rooms, but are great places for students to work collaboratively.

Literacy

Juniors love books - reading stories, listening to stories, sharing stories. Over the next few weeks we will be focussing on 'tuning in' before reading. We use our schema (prior knowledge) to make connections to the texts we read. Through books, we can expand our knowledge of the world around us.

Talk to your child about their writing seeds. Seeds are prompts for ideas for our writing - a shell collected from the beach, a family photo, a favourite toy, a leaf. Each week your child may be asked to bring something from home to be a writing seed. We take photos for our Writer's Notebook and keep precious seeds safe.

Munch and Crunch

Munch and crunch is an opportunity for students to eat some 'brain' food around 10am. Food eaten at this time needs to be fresh fruit or vegetable sticks, such as apples, sultanas, strawberries or carrot sticks. Learning often continues while students eat their fruit. Yogurt, fruit tubs, roll ups make great snacks at playtime.
