BISSA Cross Country 2019
On Monday 13 May 2019, 22 students left school at 7:00 am and travelled to Narrandera Racecourse to compete in the BISSA Cross Country carnival. The weather was perfect for a day out and a run with comfortable temperatures and plenty of sunshine.
They all competed to the best of their ability striving for personal best. We had many students finish in the top 10, and ten students qualified to go on to CIS Cross Country in Sydney.

CIS AFL Football Trials
The CIS 15 & under AFL Football trials took place in Sydney on Thursday 9 May. Olivia Taranto, Dylan Jardine, Sam Edgar and Rory Carlile all met the bus in Albury and joined other students from our region for the trials. There were just over 100 boys and 50 girls on the day. Congratulations to Dylan Jardine for making it to the top 36 boys and to Sam Edgar and Olivia Taranto for being selected on the CIS 15 & under boys and girls teams respectively. Good luck for the matches in Sydney during the first week of June.
Sun Country Cup Report
On Tuesday 7 May, Moama Anglican Grammar Year 11 & 12 AFL boys trekked over to the Moama Oval to go to war against Rochester Secondary College and Echuca College in a day of brutal football. The first game was against Rochester Secondary, who proved to be a formidable opponent, as they kicked 6 goals to Moama Anglican Grammar’s 1 point. After a half-time rev up from Coach Cadd, students came out hard with the inside mids Hayden James and Nick Farr-Jones starring through the mid-field. Some great forward pressure from Brenton Urbaniak resulted in Moama Anglican Grammar’s only goal for the match.
The second game was against Moama Anglican Grammar’s fierce rivals, Echuca College. The boys came out strong, kicking 1 goal in the first half, from skipper Hayden James on the left from 40m. The second half saw the boys continue to fight hard to win the game.
Thank you to Mr Greg Cadd for coaching and organising the boys and Mr Alan Aylward for umpiring the day.
7/8 AFL Football Tournament
Our Year 7 & 8 boys and girls have been invited to play in an AFL Football Tournament in Wagga Wagga on Friday 7 June. The teams play 16 a-side on a reduced size oval and will play games against Wagga Wagga and Albury. The winner of the day will progress to the State final in Canberra on Monday 24 June.
Our coaches, Mr John Sheehan, Mr Alan Aylward and Jayda Richardson (Year 10 student), are working on selecting our team to train over the next few weeks and travel to the competition.
Good luck to all students who are trialing for a place on the team.
Teams will be announced next week.
Upcoming CIS Soccer Trials
Good luck to Angus McKindlay and Thomas Whitehead who will trial for a place in the RAS team at CIS 16 & under Soccer Trials on 27-28 May in Sydney.
We look forward to hearing about your experience.
