Primary Sports Report
On Wear Orange day last Friday a talented (and fast) group of individuals set off to compete in the RAS (Riverina Associated Schools) Cross Country held at Jindera Golf Club. Home of the now legendary monster uphill finish!
Whilst the skies threatened to open up and drench our determined group of runners we somehow managed to avoid a soaking! With the occasional ray of sunshine, on what was a miserable day, our students performed admirably and brightened the day of all who watched them race. Our school finished third overall with Trinity College, Albury taking the team trophy. A magnificent achievement and one that every student taking part should be extremely proud of accomplishing.
With the top ten students from each race being eligible to represent RAS at CIS (Combined Independent Schools). Moama Anglican Grammar have 13 runners qualify, nearly half of all our competitors on the day. Proof indeed of their excellent effort, well done!
CIS is held at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek on Thursday 13 June. Students who qualified have been notified and the whole school wishes those that attend the very best of luck.

Netball – School Comp
Next week we will be running a lunch-time handicap Netball tournament for all year groups, teams will consist of students from the same year group with a Year 6 sports captain umpiring. The focus is on fun and enjoyment.
Team sheets are available from Mr. Dolan or your child’s classroom teacher.
The winning team will face a MAG staff team, hopefully at the end of this term.
Netball – Echuca District Finals
We have 12 teams at EDNA this year. Six from Year 5 and again, six from Year 6. Due to the number of teams I would very much like to hear from parent volunteers who would like to coach and manage one of the teams on the day.
The date is Friday the 31st of May from 9:00am to approx. 2.30pm.
Could I ask that all those interested contact Kylie at the primary office. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Gymnastics
The school will be again holding trials for the Interschool’s Gymnastics Comp held in Melbourne (week beginning Monday 19 August) as such the school will be holding trials, hopefully next week so we can begin training (Tuesday and Thursday Lunch). Last year we had over 100 students try out for only 32 places. Needless to say we had some very disappointed students. With this in mind, can I please ask all parents and carers to have a discussion regarding the trials and reassure students that non selection is not a slight on them or their ability but an opportunity to try harder and congratulate those who are selected.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any queries regarding Primary Sport.
Kind regards,
Paul Dolan – Head of Primary Sport
