Tournament of the Minds
Over the past three years Moama Anglican Grammar has taken part in the Tournament of the Minds Competition (TOM) regional competition at Shepparton. This was a great success and well supported by the participating students and their families. This year, due to a change of rules at National level, we must compete in NSW, as a school located in NSW. Our new regional final location is Wagga Wagga, NSW.
TOM is a problem solving program for teams of seven students. Each team is required to solve demanding, open-ended challenges from one of the following disciplines:
• The Arts
• Language Literature
• STEM
• Social Sciences
TOM is an opportunity for students with a passion for learning and problem solving to demonstrate their skills and talents in an exciting, vibrant and public way. Teams of seven students (maximum of four students from one year level) are required to work together on a Long Term Challenge (during Term 3) without assistance from teachers, parents or peers.
Please bear in mind that the competition day is Saturday 31 August in Wagga Wagga, venue to be advised. The school will organise a bus to transport students, or students are welcome to travel independently with their parents.
Miss Briggs (Primary) is now seeking expressions of interest for the 2019 TOM program from students in Year 3 to 6 and Mrs Williams (Secondary) will be chatting with interested students from Year 7-10 .
