Melbourne University
Year 9 SEAL
Discovery Day
This is a report that recalls events and the experiences that were made during my tour to Melbourne University.
The experience was quite unique to other tours of educational institutions in that, the students of the university greeted us and toured us, were not forced to be nice or kind, but they are genuinely nice and are amazing to be around.
They talked to us in a respectful manner and didn’t judge us for any interests that we had and if anything, they tried to talk to us and take part in the conversation we were having, with other people.
The university itself was really good, in fact, just the air around it felt welcoming and they turned old buildings into something new, but without changing the building at all.
The aspect that amazed me even more was when I entered, the people around us smiled and waved and you could just tell that they weren’t something to be worried about and that all the students were positive and great.
Later after being shown around the school, we took these workshops in certain aspects of life that I never really paid attention to, like teeth care. The people telling us, just trapped my attention and I learnt a great deal. It was a great experience and I wish I could do it again.

Melbourne University was a fun experience to get a taste of the lectures and the area.
After the introductory stuff was over, we had a tour of the campus. We had a lecture about philosophy and it was fascinating because, we were talking about freedom of speech and made me think a lot .
After lunch, we headed to a class to learn about dental hygiene and I got two packets of floss. We played Pictionary and made friends with students from other SEAL schools.
he last thing we did, was learn what to do if someone gets a snake bite.
My favourite part of the whole trip. was just being in a university setting and the vibe of the school. The vibe was cool, because it felt very accepting, because it was so diverse.
I saw many pride flags around the campus and lots of different nationalities.
They also explained that there were lots of clubs, so if you’re into something, chances are that there’s a club for it.
Also, we got free pizza and sushi and had a picnic outside, considering how many snacks I brought.

Supper Club 2020
A few Year 9 boys have been chosen to be 'Team Leaders' for Supper Club this year!
On Thursday 20 February, the team leaders assisted in packaging up meals for the homeless and those in need within the local community.
The food donated, happened to be from former George Colombaris’, ‘MaDE Production Kitchen'. It was delicious!
