On Tuesday, 21 August, Oakleigh Grammar hosted Debbie Gilmore, Executive Director of the Arrowsmith Program Toronto, Canada.

 

The information evening held 60 plus attendees including teaching staff, visiting staff, students, parents and the general public.

 

Debbie spoke about her own personal journey with her son’s cognitive impairment and his involvement in the Arrowsmith Program. Through this journey, Debbie was lead to her current position and even moved over to Canada with her family, to where the program is based.

 

Guests on the night were provided Information relating to the programs effect on academic studies, cognitive and social development. Debbie also talked briefly about research and studies relating to the effectiveness of the program.
