EISM Winter Season Finals

Oakleigh Grammar  has had a highly  successful Winter Sports Season. Our sports teams qualified for six Grand Finals over the Year 8/9 and Senior Sport Divisions. We were victorious in five of the six Grand Finals, only narrowly missing out in the Senior Boys Table Tennis Grand Final. 

 

This now takes our 2018 Premiership Tally to 15 Premierships with the EISM Cross Country Carnival and the Year 7 and Year 8/9 Summer Sports seasons to complete. 

 

Senior Boys Table Tennis Team - Runners-Up

Well done to the Senior Boys Table Tennis Team who qualified for the Grand Final and finished as runners-up. They were narrowly defeated 4-5 by Huntingtower.

 

Year 8/9 Boys Soccer Team - Premiers

Congratulations to the Year 8/9 Boys Soccer Team on an outstanding season and a dominant Grand Final display. The team defeated Nunawading 8-0 in the Grand Final.

Louka Bauzon scored the goal of the year and also won the Grand Final MVP medallion. 

 

Year 8-9 Boys Table Tennis - Premiers

The Year 8/9 Boys Table Tennis Team had an outstanding season. They were undefeated throughout season and powered to victory in the Grand Final where they defeated Nunawading 7-2. Rajas Satija was adjudged Grand Final MVP.

 

Year 8-9 Boys Futsal Team - Premiers

The Year 8/9 Boys Futsal Team had a successful season in the Box Hill Indoor Futsal Competition. They had a hard-fought Grand Final win to take home the title for a second consecutive year.   

Senior Girls Table Tennis Team - Premiers

Our Senior Girls Table Tennis Team has continued to dominate the competition by winning the Senior Girls Table Tennis Premiership for a fourth consecutive year. The team defeated Huntingtower 6-3 in the Grand Final.

Christine Koutsioulis was named Grand Final MVP.

 

 

Senior Girls Netball Team - Premiers

The Senior Girls Netball Team produced the performance of the finals. After scores were locked at 23 all after regulation time, the Grand Final went into a 5 minute overtime period. With the support of a loud home crowd in our Sports Complex, our Netball Team dug deep to produce a thrilling 29 to 28 goal victory over Alphington Grammar. History was made as this was Oakleigh Grammar’s first Netball Premiership since we entered the EISM competition in 1998.  

Izzy Karvounis was adjudged Grand Final MVP for her outstanding play at the Goal Attack position.  

 

 

Year 7 Boys Volleyball Team - Premiers

The Year 7 Boys Volleyball Team kept Oakleigh Grammar’s strong Volleyball culture alive by winning the Year 7 Boys Volleyball Premiership for Term 3 Sport. 

Max Zhu had an outstanding season. Max displayed outstanding Volleyball skills throughout the Term 3 season.

 

EISM Senior All-Star Awards

The EISM recognises outstanding sporting skill, team play and effort by selecting an All-Star representative team in all Senior Sport Teams.

School Sport Victoria Beachside Division Athletics Carnival

Well done to the following students who qualified and participated at the School Sport Victoria Beachside Division Athletics Carnival which was held at Lakeside Athletics Stadium last Friday.

 

Lexi Bergmeier (Year 4): 9-10 Girls Discus & Shot Put

Charlotte Brown (Year 4): 9-10 Girls Triple Jump

Chris Papakatsikas (Year 6): 12 Boys Long Jump

 

Congratulations to Lexi Bergmeier who unleashed an awesome personal best throw of 18.74m in the 9/10 Girls Discus to finish in 2nd place in the field of 13 competitors from the eight competing Districts. Lexi also finished in 5th place in the 9/10 Girls Shot Put with a throw of 6.67m.

 

Lexi has now qualified for the School Sport Victoria Southern Metro Regional Athletics Carnival in the 9/10 Girls Discus. The Southern Metro Athletics Carnival will take place on Thursday 18th October.
