Book Week 2015
Book Week 2015 - One of the best things about Book Week is that the Children's Book Council recommends hundreds of books to be named 'book of the year'. From four hundred books, this year's judges narrowed it down to a short-list of six in each category. From there, the judges must choose just one book as the 'book of the year.'
Book of the year in the older category was one by Claire Zorn for her novel 'The protected'.
Two novels also received honourable mention, which were 'Nona and me' by Clare Atkins and 'The Minnow' by Dianna Sweeney.
In the Primary school reader section, 'The Cleo stories' won book of the year, with honourable mention going to 'Two wolves' by Tristan Bancks (also available in our library and 'Withering-by sea' by Judith Rossell.

Library Crew
The library have had a tremendous breakthrough with students and creative arts. The Library Crew is composed of students currently ranging from Years 7 to Year 9.
Some of the many things we commit to helping students with are: managing the borrow and returns desk, assisting with lunchtime activities such as board games and the minecraft club, and any other activities that promote and assist our library as a space 'run' by students, for students.
The Library Crew was created in order for students to put into action the schools' core values, and everyday we showcase responsibility and commitment; putting into action these important future skills.

Books light up our World!
In the library this week, as an activity for Children’s Book Week, we have been making bookmarks with little LED lights. We cut out the cardboard and felt and used the hot glue gun to glue them together.
Then we had to come up with a design, which was quite tricky because we had to incorporate conductive thread to connect the light and the battery and it couldn’t cross over.
People came up with some very good designs; we had one bookmark with ‘cows’ written on it in big letters, another on with paper planes and the LED light as the sun and lots of other good designs.
It was a really good activity combining the LED light with a bookmark to match the Bookweek theme of ‘Books light up our world’.
