Love of Art

I fell in love with art when I started Primary School. I’ve been drawing and doodling ever since. Even in my maths class I will draw in the middle of my book until I’m told by my maths teacher to do my maths work but when my teacher is not looking I go back to my drawing because I can’t leave it unfinished!
Last semester I did Drawing and Design and this semester I’m doing Darkroom Photography and Ceramics. I’m really enjoying the darkroom.
I’ve had to work out of my comfort zone. I love watching the photo appearing as I develop it. I tried superimposing, which is putting two negatives on top of each other. I’m really happy with the way that worked out.
I was lucky enough to be recommended to attend the program at SAM for high potential year 10 art students. This was a great experience for me because we got to experiment with different drawing materials. One week we went to top of the Telstra Tower and took photos and drew pictures of Shepparton from the east side of the Tower.
Ikhlas and I worked on a panel together as a project from this experience. This panel was inspired by the artist, Greg Creek. I found it interesting that he was an architectural designer before he became an artist and you can see this in his work.
Our panel took us about 5 weeks to complete. We worked on it at lunchtimes, sometimes in class but mostly at home. Both Ikhlas and I did drawings individually and joined them together for the panel. I’m really proud of the way this panel came together.
