JMSS Website Update

A little update has happened over on the JMSS website. To make things easier for students and parents to access Compass, Canvas and Emails we have added a tab at the top right hand corner of the website called "Online at JMSS."  Here you will find all the links, websites and information needed.

Australian Gymnastics Championship

Alisa Gimgina is Year 11 JMSS student from Doherty house and is a senior elite Rhythmic Gymnastics athlete and 2019 Victorian Champion.

At the beginning of June (right before exam week) Alisa represented Victoria at Australian Gymnastics Championship 2019. This was the 6th year in a row of her being a part of Victorian team at Nationals championship.

Together with her team mates Alisa won team gold for senior division and finished 4th overall as an individual - only few points separated her from second and third result.

She is one of only 5 rhythmic gymnasts in Australia who qualified to Senior National Squad.

She also achieved the scores required to be invited for the second World Championship selection event.

To achieve this result she trains 24 hours per week, travels interstate and internationally to participate in competitions and training camps. She has to be an expert in time management to juggle Year 11 study load and demanding training schedule.

Rhythmic Gymnastics is the perfect combination of sport and art, linking expressive dance steps with skilful manipulations of the ball, rope, ribbon, hoop or clubs: throw, spin, spiral, roll and catch. Each routine is a mini performance.

Congratulations Alisa, from all of us at JMSS.

Regional Science Exchange

Thank you to all those families who have offered to host the regional students arriving in Term 3. We are looking forward to another successful program and 15 new students in the coming weeks. We really appreciate your help.

Regards, Erin Hayley . Marketing & Outreach Co-ordinator.

Year 10 & 11 Formal

Congratulations to all Year 10 & 11's on your formal. Students enjoyed a great night of celebration, as students, parents and staff came together to celebrate. A well deserved night out after a few weeks of exams to relax and enjoy.

Held at the beautiful mansion, Quat Quatta in Ripponlea, it was certainly an elegant night to remember.
