Escher X Nendo exhibition, NGV

"To infinity and beyond"

by Karoline Kuti, teacher of Music Y7-12 and Music Coordinator

On Wednesday 20 March, Year 10 Art and Music classes combined to visit the Escher X Nendo exhibition at the NGV. This stunning exhibition features the work of Dutch artist M C Escher (famous for his fantastical optical illusions) in dialogue with the work of acclaimed Japanese design studio nendo.

Students attended an educational talk and were fascinated to hear all about Escher and how this exhibition came to life.

Both classes are currently exploring the concept of innovation in the Arts and left very inspired with a myriad of great ideas.

2019 school production

by Liv Carlisle, Year 11

This year’s school production will be the musical We Will Rock You.

The story is set in a futuristic society dictated by the Killer Queen and her right-hand agent Khashoggi; together they have banned the creation of music. Schoolboy Galileo hears strange words and phrases in his head and sets out with his fellow wannabe rebel Scaramouche to trace the legend of living rock, accompanied along the way by undercover legends such as Madonna and Paul McCartney.

In contrast with previous years, this show is being produced entirely by Year 11 students. Lucinda Greene has taken on the role of Director; Charlie Harrison-Dowling, Musical Director; Producer and Stage Management, Tahlia Dimattina; Costume and Set Design by Liv Carlisle; support will come from set building mastermind, Anthony Cavagna, and musical arrangement extraordinaire, Michelle Berner.

Our show will open on Wednesday 7 August at the Renaissance Theatre, Kew and close on Saturday 10 August. We very much hope to see you there!
