But what type of career can you expect?

With a Monash Bachelor of Arts, the options available to you will be anything but limited. From politics to performing, publishing to public policy, Arts graduates go on to do amazing things.

Monash wants to give you a taste of some of the remarkable career paths available to Monash Arts graduates and bust some of the myths about what an Arts degree can be.

Their 'What a Week' video follows James and Stevie – two Year 12 students from Melbourne – as they embark upon a whistle-stop career tour. Follow them as they go backstage at Aladdin, tour the Amy Winehouse exhibition at the Jewish Museum, travel to Singapore to meet journalists and diplomats, spend time with broadcasters and TV presenters and view the Melbourne Metro tunnel construction up close.

The High Achievers program at Swinburne

Swinburne University recognises that high-performing students need the opportunity to develop, extend and be challenged to excel in their field of interest. The High Achievers program recognises students who demonstrate exceptional potential to benefit from access to research and industry projects. Students will also have the opportunity to apply to become part of Swinburne's Student Ambassador Program, representing Swinburne at key events.

How to apply

There is no need to apply for the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship. As long as you preference a Swinburne degree and achieve an ATAR of 95 or higher you will automatically be offered a Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship and entry into the High Achievers program. All eligible students will be contacted once Year 12 results are released in December (Victorian Year 12) and January (other states and IB).

IB CAS program - "Why should I take it seriously?"

New university admission models are changing and applying for employment is no different. Universities and employers alike are searching far beyond the ATAR. They are now taking a more holistic approach. They also want to know what kind of co-curricular and service activities you have been involved in. Your hobbies, part-time work, volunteering, fundraising, sporting achievements as well as academic studies, all showcase your talents and the kind of person you are. Some employers don’t ask for CVs and don’t even care where you studied! What they care about is your potential and ability. They look for like-minded individuals who want to share in their purpose, passion and values.

By participating in CAS experiences, students become well-rounded young adults.

"CAS enables students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development by learning through experience. It provides opportunities for self-determination and collaboration with others, fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work. At the same time, CAS is an important counterbalance to the academic pressures of the DP."

New admission models

In 2020 ANU will welcome the first cohort of students under a new national admissions process. The new admissions model will look beyond ATAR scores to consider a student’s all-round character and will be unique in its focus on holistic student assessment. ANU has created a step-by-step process guiding prospective students through the application process. All school-leavers will need to meet the co-curricular or service requirement. Students can check if they meet the requirement and view examples of supporting documentation on theANU website.
