Boarding

Congratulations to all those College students and especially the boarders who won basketball Grand Finals last Friday. Tom ‘Bird’ Hirst, Ned  ‘Jordan’ Mcarthur, Cook ‘O’Neil’ Yang and Eliza ‘Cambage’ Jagger all played extremely well on the night and finished their seasons on a high.

On Sunday a group of boarders headed to Melbourne for some shopping in the city and an NBL game. It was a beautiful day in Melbourne and we had heaps of fun at the basketball. My highlight was just being around such a great group of kids on a relaxed and enjoyable day.

We farewell and wish bon voyage to Hannah Russell, Tim Gilling, Daniel McGinty and Billie Smitheram who leave on Friday on the World Challenge Trip to Cambodia. It will be a life-changing experience and I know they will be fantastic ambassadors for the College.

I was so proud to see so many boarders receive commendations for the ICAS subject competitions at Assembly on Wednesday. There were too many to name all of them but a special mention to Jerry Wu for his High Distinction in Mathematics.

During this assembly Dr Hirst also announced that Hannah Russell has been selected for the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program Class of 2019. This is a Melbourne University program and an outstanding achievement. Congratulations Hannah!!

Our Food Committee met on Tuesday afternoon with a visiting dietician. They explored healthy alternatives and took the opportunity to provide general feedback. Thanks to the boarders who attended and I encourage anyone who has ideas or suggestions to attend the next meeting. The Best & Fairest for the first meeting went to Campbell Craig. Special thank you to Jo Dillon for all of her ongoing work with this.

It’s been very quiet here this week without the Year 8s and I look forward to their return from camp. Gail has been so bored she has taken to playing pranks. I have definitely learnt not to leave my keys in the ignition and just to clear things up I was not the one who parked the Getz in the middle of Myrniong Oval.
