Junior School Sport

There is an old adage ‘Sport doesn’t just build character, it exposes it!’  What has been exposed of late certainly relates well to our College values of respect, gratitude, compassion, resilience and optimism.  Friday House Sports has been a fabulous success.  The House spirit, sportsmanship and old-fashioned competitiveness have been alive and well in international rules football, volleyball and soccer matches.  The basketball Grand Finals saw a number of Junior School students taking part - Diamon Dickeson, Amelie Hiscock, Sienna Lewis, Olivia Rees, Emma te Boekhorst, Emma Vallance, Bella O’Sullivan and Angus Stewart.  All handled winning and losing a Grand Final in a dignified manner and were tremendous ambassadors for the College.  It was a great night at HILAC and special thanks to the parents and students who turned up to support the teams.

Year 3/4 Camp

Warm weather greeted our Year 3 and 4 students as they headed to Rose’s Gap for three days of bush activities. The students have built rafts, canoed, traversed rope courses, descended on a flying fox, constructed bush huts, bushwalked and camped out under the stars.  Thanks to Mr Warren Butcher, Ms Ebony Milich, Mr Stephen Mirtschin and Mrs Bernadette Milich for accompanying the students on their adventure into northern Grampians.  This is the first time we have sent our Year 3 and 4 students on this type of outdoor camp.

Parents and Friends

The College Parents and Friends do an amazing job to support the school through ‘fund’ and ‘fun’ raising ventures.  The College P & F generously funded our new shaded area at Myrniong.  In 2018, it is hoped that the Junior School will have representatives to join the ranks of the Parents and Friends. Mrs Kate Hunt has very kindly offered to be one representative and we are keen for a second Junior School parent to join her.  Any interested parents can contact the Junior School office for further details.  The commitment is small, but the rewards are large.  There is one meeting per term plus many opportunities to build collegiality and friendships with other parents.
