Teaching and Learning
Your son/daughter will have received their 2018 Booklist this week. Students studying VCE subjects will notice a compulsory item named Edrolo under various subjects. I have attached an explanatory letter that outlines why we have chosen to include this as a resource for our students.
The Year 10 & 11 Semester Two Examinations will be held between Friday 24th November and Friday 1st December. Year 7 to 9 Semester Two Examinations will take place on Monday 4th to Friday 8th December. During the examination period, normal classes are suspended and we run an examination timetable. The Year 10 & 11 Examination Timetable and the Year 7 to 9 Examination Timetable are attached to this newsletter.
Good luck to the Year 10s and 11s who will sit their English examination this Friday.
Mrs Rebekah Bonnett
Acting Director of Teaching and Learning
Year 6 to 10 students sat the ICAS Mathematics Paper during Term Three. They are congratulated for their attitude and effort during the testing. The data collected, along with the NAPLAN results and our internal assessment, is used by staff to help develop the best possible teaching programmes for our students to achieve a sound and deep mathematical knowledge. For the first time this year students are being shown how to access their own results online. The detailed data allows them to reflect on their growth, specific areas of strength and weakness, the responsibility they are taking towards their own learning and what they, as individuals, could do to improve their learning.
Notably, we would like to congratulate John Charnley in Year 8 and Jerry Wu in Year 10, each of whom achieved a High Distinction. This result places these students in the top 1% of Mathematics students in the state in their age groups.
Distinctions, which place students in the next 10% in their respective age groups, were awarded to Jack Lewis and Angus Dohle in Year 7, Michael Crowle and Leyland Jones in Year 8 and Darcy Wall and Lachy Oliver in Year 10.
