From Cressida

A Key Message to all of our Arlington Families.... You're doing

an amazing job

Please be reassured that the online learning programs developed by our teachers have lots of content, but this does not mean that all of it is required. We are aware that children will sometimes do a lot, and sometimes take time for other interests. Please don't feel that you must do EVERYTHING. Please do as much or as little as meets your family's desires.

Thank you one and all

At a time like this, when certainty would be nice, but seems so out of reach, we turn to each other for support. Thank you Arlington Families for the support you have given to us.

Timetables & Scheduling

Lots of families have had questions about the Zoom classes. So a brief rationale for how the timetable was drawn up is warranted. The considerations that went into building this were:

  • Equity among class groups to afford each group with equal time
  • Book-ending each day with face-to-face meetings
  • Ensuring no overlap between class Zoom times
  • Providing class teams with the bulk of available time
  • Ensuring specialists had times to meet with all class groups
  • Creating space so that classes were not on Zoom for extended periods.

While all class times have been reduced, all classes are represented and for our largest cohorts, they have double the scheduled times for specialists. These can be taken as a large group or split according to what works.

Feedback

We reached out and invited feedback from you and you responded. We're taking into consideration that feedback; adapting, adjusting and refining how we design and offer online learning.  Please keep providing feedback to us; we are learning too.

Later this week, each family will receive a questionnaire from PIVOT called a Pulse Survey. We hope you take the time to provide us with further feedback by completing this survey.

Online learning

on-campus

Some of our children are spending part or all of the school week here with us on campus. Our teachers are on a rotating roster to supervise and spend time supporting this learning. This is an option for families, and Kelly Club Aftercare is also running at no cost to families during this period.

If you would like to access on-campus learning for your child(ren) please email me at cressida.batterham-wilson@preshil.vic.edu.au

to let me know which days you might need.

Although some families have arrived without notice, this communication is essential so that we can adequately plan for supervision.

While you have been at home....

The campus is looking beautiful, and Rob, Greg and Emma have been busy with projects which our children can enjoy when they return. Mark the builder, who is working on the Kindergarten extension, installed the new window into the Sunroom revealing the trunk of a truly amazing old tree.

We restored our creek
We put in the new window to take care of our tree
There is enough grass here for our cow now!
Rob has built some beautiful gardens

Can you find some things you're missing here?
