The Exchange

We knew that organising The 56th Exchange would be a tough job and Paul Sanders and I were up for the challenge but we could not have possibly done this without the support of our extraordinary colleagues.

In this edition of The Cheltonian, we focus on our hard-working School Staff

It started in Term 4 of 2022, looking for Coaches for the 56th Avenues Exchange. This was my third involvement in getting The 56th Exchange up and running so there were some nerves as I sent the all-staff email or when I had to explain to so many new staff what the Exchange was all about. While there was a little chasing up, almost all of the coaching roles were filled by the time we started Term 1. Our staff both new and existing took on the challenge. 

Thank you to our coaching staff for your help in the training, mentoring and selection of our amazing Squad 56.

We can not forget to say thanks and give gratitude to Mr Ross Smith (pictured above) who started the Exchange in 1965. Thank you to the amazing staff in the school office who supported The Exchange in so many ways. Sometimes known as 'The Engine Room', we would like to thank Naomi Smith, Thuy Nguyen, Lauren Howes, Jan Kuzmicky. Our Facilities support team Peter Florence and John Kougioumztis. John in particular, for all of the set up and pack down of assemblies and equipment throughout the Exchange week. Thank you to the former Chelt Exchange staff who offered their support throughout the year. 

A big, big thank you to the staff that arrived early every morning and stayed late each night throughout all of the events and followed the squad throughout their whole experience, Kieran Knox, Ben Smart, Joel Mazurek, and Lachlan Craig. Some of the squad have commented that this was the best school week of their lives. I have a feeling a few of our wonderful staff feel the same way.
