Aboriginal Student Program

For Our Elders

This Tuesday the Trinity College Boorloo Boys, an Aboriginal Dance Troop, embarked on a meaningful journey to Mount Hawthorn Primary School to contribute to their NAIDOC Week festivities. The boys delivered a captivating performance of their traditional NAIDOC dance, which beautifully showcased the theme for 2023: "For Our Elders."

In this mesmerizing dance, they gracefully transitioned into the roles of the Kangaroo and Emu, embodying the spirit of these revered creatures. They then flowed like a powerful wave, symbolizing the constant push and resilience, just as our esteemed elders have stood strong amidst life's challenges.

The dance culminated in the vibrant Gnumby, a celebratory circle honoring the wisdom and contributions of the elders. Throughout the performance, the boys expressed deep respect for the spirits of the elders and the invaluable role they play in our community.

Witnessing the students' performance was a joy, as they represented Trinity College with utmost confidence and pride in their rich cultural heritage. The event served as a reminder of the enduring strength of our elders and the importance of cherishing their wisdom and legacy.
