Gold Panning at WHS:

Room 22 children were fortunate to have a trainee teacher assigned to their class for several weeks. Mrs K's partner Carl provided room 22 children with an exceptional opportunity to bring the new Aotearoa New Zealand Histories curriculum to life. He set up a gold panning experience for the children where each child received a bag of gravel, each with some gold flakes buried inside.

It was incredibly cool to watch (and hear) their excitement as the gold flakes eventually revealed themselves. Those flakes were transferred to clear tape to be a forever keepsake for each child.
