Principal's Report

Wow, we are flying through Term 3, it is hard to believe that it is week 4 next week.
NAPLAN
As mentioned at Assembly last week the grade 3 and grade 5 student’s NAPLAN results have arrived. If your child/ren completed any of the NAPLAN testing this year, please make contact with your child’s teacher to arrange collection of their results.
LOCK DOWN DRILL
On Thursday the school conducted a lockdown drill. These drills help to teach staff and students what to do in an emergency and encourages all to follow an orderly and safe process while remaining calm. The kids did a great job, taking it all in their stride. If your child mentions this to you or comes home anxious about it, please reassure them and explain it is just a practice run to help teach us what to do in case of an emergency.
SCHOOL CROSSING
It is that time again to remind families the absolute importance of using our school crossings. Recently we have had several near misses where students/parents have decided not to cross the road at the designated crossings and have crossed at unsafe spaces. This is happening both before and after school. It is vital that as adults, we are modelling the safest options to our kids so that eventually, they make the right (in this case, the safest) choice when they are crossing independently.
Please, please, please – everyone use our school crossings every single time!
BIKE/SCOOTER HELMETS
Another safety reminder, there are an increasing number of students who are riding /scooting to/from school without a helmet. Wearing a helmet is a legal requirement, not to mention a safety requirement! Students must, must, must be wearing their helmet when riding/scooting at all times.
CURRICULUM DAY
Today is a pupil free day at school. Today staff get the opportunity to go through the school curriculum, unpack what is being covered in all levels of the school and ensure that our kids are getting the best learning experiences possible. This information enables the school’s leadership team to document this overview of learning, to ensure that each and every staff member has access and readily refer to our up to date and revised curriculum schedule. This ensures consistency for all staff, including staff changing levels and new staff joining our Echuca East team throughout the years.
I wish you all a lovely and safe weekend, and make the most of the predicted sunshine over the next few days. See you all on Monday!
