Better Bulls Select Workshop

This week on the Farm, Mr Sullivan, Mr Edwards and some Year 11 Beef students attended a Better Bulls Select Workshop at Magic Valley Beef, hosted by Western Beef. The focus of the workshop was how to select a better bull for your herd, understanding EBVs, environmental and genetic effects and how to make sense of a bull sale catalogue.

Sheep

This week the College welcomed back Mr Adams from long service leave as he hits the ground running with lamb marking taking place on Monday and Tuesday.  This has given us the opportunity to finalise assessments with our Year 11 and Year 12 students rostered to Farm.

Welcome and Thankyou

Also returning to the College this week was Mr Paul Dyson, Farm Training Coordinator. Mr Dyson spent the first semester at Newton Moore High School as Deputy Principal.

I need to thank Mr Matt Olde (Senior Technical Officer), who stepped into the role during Paul’s absence and did a fantastic job coordinating all the Farm training at the College.

First Aid

Our Year 10 and the new Year 11 students have commenced their First Aid course which is run by St John Ambulance and will be continuing over the coming weeks.

Weekend Stock

A reminder to all students that they need to read the Weekend Stock Roster and be aware of the weekend they are rostered to.
