Japanese Day
Japanese Day 2023
What a day, full of fun, learning & community spirit. A day when we were able to celebrate and showcase our Japanese Language Program here at St. Mel's. This year’s Japanese Day included a bit of everything – from the festival and ‘En-kai’ games to cultural experiences, craft and food tasting.
To our Japanese teacher Demi, you are amazing! Your organisation and attention to detail ensured everything ran smoothly and efficiently. We are truly grateful for everything you do. Well done and thanks!!! Thank you also to everyone who helped set up, prepare activities, cooked at the BBQ, and helped pack up. A great team effort.
We look forward to Japanese Day 2025!
A special congratulations to our JEX students for helping Demi to run & organise the day. You led our school community so well and we are very proud. Even speaking in Japanese in front of the whole school! Well done!

On Japanese day the JEX team had lots of responsibilities. During our JEX class we all spent a lot of time together practicing our speeches for Japanese day. On the day we presented our speeches at the opening and closing ceremonies. Some of us spoke in Japanese while others translated into English. During lunch, some of us offered to help our Japanese teacher Demi by running a game called 1000 strings. We all had lots of fun setting up and helping Demi on the day. We also loved playing all the games and activities. Overall it was an amazing day. We love being a part of the JEX team!
