Italian

Arrivederci

“Time to say goodbye”.

I have had a long and wonderful career as a language teacher, having taught French and Italian from Prep to Year 12 over several decades.

Teaching is a unique vocation which is inspired by all the children we encounter throughout our experience and I have been privileged to be one of those fortunate people.

The decision to leave has been difficult but since becoming a Nonna last year I have needed to dedicate myself to my new role.

My time at St Joseph’s has been extremely happy and fulfilling. I have been blessed to work in such a special community of children, parents and carers and all our staff in every capacity. I have been part of a truly marvellous team of specialists.  I have been supported and encouraged in my work here and I have formed lasting friendships.

I will remember all the rôle plays, preparing food, the beautiful accents from Prep children, the enthusiasm and joy on Italian days, the singing, watching children play during my yard duty, ‘Buongiorno Tuesdays’, their participation during Italian day performances, the amazing assistance from Mel and parents on Italian days and interesting questions such as “What is the Italian word for Pizza?” But a few memories to enjoy as I will recollect.

I am so lucky to have spent my last years of teaching at our school and I will miss this special community.

I am leaving with a sincere and deep appreciation of all that St Joseph’s and its community has given me.

Thank you, everyone.                                                                   Pace sia con voi.

Grazie mille,
