Congratulations

PVCC’s Head of English Kate Rees was awarded a full scholarship from the University of Melbourne for being an OUTSTANDING STUDENT!

Please join us in congratulating Kate on this incredible achievement! Kate is studying a Master of Education with a Literacy specialisation at the University of Melbourne. This is part of her commitment to ongoing professional learning. It is a two-year full-time course that she is studying part-time and expected to finish next year.

Kate’s key interests as Head of English are in exploring ways to further develop the writing and reading culture at PVCC and she is using the Master of Education to support her understanding of the latest research in these areas.

What an incredible example to each of our students and the PVCC community of what it means to Learn Courageously and to Strive for Excellence. We have so much gratitude for our staff and students alike who embody our college values and live them out in their everyday life. Well done Kate!

Early Collection of Students

We understand that there are times when it is necessary for parents to collect their students early from the college, however we are aware of an increasing number of requests by parents for staff to locate students at short notice, and of students missing out on important learning time in the classroom.   With this in mind, we suggest that the following be considered when arranging appointments and early pickups:

  • Is it possible to have an after-school appointment?
  • Can my child be collected at recess or lunchtime?
  • Will my child be in an assembly or specialist class at this time?  Students cannot be collected during an assembly (this includes sub-school assemblies and chapel).
  • Have I notified the class teacher and the college office at office@pvcc.vic.edu.au (preferably by the start of the school day)?
  • Have I allowed adequate time? We suggest allowing 10-15 minutes for this pick-up process. Reception staff will do everything they can to assist but cannot go and collect children and may not be able to locate your child in your desired timeframe.
  • Is my child aware that they will be collected early? Children will remember better if it is at significant times like recess or lunch. Secondary students should move themselves to the General Office at the appropriate time to be signed out.

From the beginning of August, we will be asking parents to return to the pre-COVID process of coming into the reception office to sign their student out. This allows the reception staff to identify you as a safe person before your child goes with you.
