The Year 9 Student of the term is a dedicated and diligent student. She always strives to give her best in class. Her results are of a consistently high standard. Her teachers comment that she is very driven, always asks for help, takes initiative in her learning and shows great focus and maturity. She takes direction well and uses it to develop as a learner. She also works collaboratively with other students and always demonstrates respect for both staff and students. Her interactions with others truly reflect the Mercy values.
The Year 9 student of the term is involved in a range of extracurricular activities such as the choir. She has represented the College in long and triple jump at the interschool athletics. The Year 9 Student of the term is passionate about the Arts. Recently she had a lead in the school musical where the director commented that she is a triple threat as she can sing, dance and act.

The student of the term award for Year 10 goes to an active member of the Academy community. Throughout the year Cara has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social justice and has actively engaged in various initiatives that have positively impacted her school and community. She has participated in Justice and Class Captain meetings, initiating inclusive discussions on social issues, and promoting wellbeing among her peers. Her compassionate nature shines through in her daily interactions, offering support and empathy to her classmates. Cara’s dedication to creating a more equitable and caring community sets her apart as a true advocate for justice.
Cara’s compassion and care for others are evident in her daily interactions. She consistently goes above and beyond to support her classmates, offering a listening ear, providing encouragement, and displaying genuine empathy. Her acts of kindness and inclusivity have fostered a sense of belonging within her school community, making it a place where everyone feels valued and appreciated.
Cara’s teachers have stated that she brings a worldly perspective to all her thoughts, she is considerate and conscientious and is always confident in sharing her ideas with the class. Cara has been noted as a tremendously positive influence in the Her Story class - always an enthusiastic contributor and quite a good writer.
National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy
NAPLAN results for Year 9 students will be released in late July. There have been significant changes in the reporting of NAPLAN, including resetting the NAPLAN scale. The four proficiency levels of Exceeding, Strong, Developing, and Needs additional support will replace the 10-band structure and National Minimum Standard.
Students in Year 9 who meet the ‘Exceeding’ level in reading and/or numeracy will receive a certificate of achievement.
