TAIWAN UNDER 16 GIRLS VS MCKINNON VOLLEY SENIOR GIRLS

On Thursday 20 July, after school in the oval gym, McKinnon Volley hosted two teams of Under 16 Girls volleyball players from Shuang Shih Junior High School in Taiwan. The parents, teachers and Principal of the girls’ school experienced a brief tour of the school with Lachlan Noble, and they were very impressed by our facilities.

The Under 16 Girls Volleyball team warmed up and demonstrated to us what it was like to be the current junior champions of Taiwan! It was so impressive to watch them play, and our senior girls really enjoyed the challenge and the experience.

We are lucky to have this highly skilled team visit us and want to play games with our senior girls, in front of our McKinnon community. Thanks to our athletes, coaches and our wonderful Volleyball community for their support in hosting the event.

THE “BIG 3” VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

McKinnon Secondary hosted Rowville Secondary and Eltham High School for the 3rd leg of the “Big 3” Volleyball Tournament on Monday 7 August. Both gyms at the main campus were used to display some excellent skills from the top teams in the state. It was also an opportunity for our students to show their support and cheer on our athletes during lunchtime.

Overall, congratulations to two of our teams who have progressed to the finals: Junior Boys and Senior Girls, which will be held at Eltham High School on Monday 4 September. Thanks to Liam Adlington, Mara Karro and Ellie Adler for their coaching, as well as the McKinnon Volley coaches Minja Zlatic, Tayla and Zoe Fischer.
