CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Reading this week we are learning to retell a text.

VOCABULARY

Retell: Tell us what happened in the text.

Characters: People, animals or creatures in the text.

Setting: Where the story is happening or taking place.

Problem: A problem or issue that happens in the story. For example, “The witches broom broke!”

Solution: How was the problem solved or fixed. For example, “The witch made a new broom.”

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Choose any book that you have at home and read this together with your child. Try to find a book that has a problem and a solution in it. Work together to identify the Characters, Setting, Problem and Solution.
