Chemistry Day 2023

On the 1st June, Year 12 Chemistry students participated in ‘Chemistry Day’ 2023. Students were required to design their own practical investigation, developing an inquiry question and then planning a course of action to answer it. The students worked in teams to undertake their experiments, involving the collection of both qualitative and quantitative data. Following ‘Chemistry Day’, the students analyse and evaluate their data, identify limitations and link their findings to scientific ideas. They then create a scientific poster to communicate their findings to the rest of the school community.

Having the entire day to work on their investigation allows them to modify and improve their method, undertake repeat trials for reliability and work as a team to begin the analysis of the data they collect.

We were so impressed with the maturity, creativity and ‘scientific thinking’ shown by every student on the day and we can’t wait to see your final posters. Well done everyone!

Chemistry day was a good day to be able to explore the physical effects of the theory we learn in class, as well as practice conducting experiments. It was fun to be able to put our own twist on the experiment as students and to explore areas we are curious in.
