Year 11 VCE-Vocational Major: ‘Gambling Harm Podcast’

On Friday 19th May, the Year 11 VCE-VM class took part in a ‘Gambling Harm’ incursion, run by Clare Emmanuel, from ‘Connect Health’ and Ralph Barber from ‘Live FM’. The students took part in workshops about gambling harm and listened to guest speakers. The class then had the privilege of making a Podcast with Ralph Barber. Using the following link, you can see the student’s amazing work at being ‘radio presenters’ and producing a podcast on gambling harm. Clare, Ralph and all the staff involved, were very proud of the way the students stepped out of their comfort zone and took part in this activity. They all did an amazing job and should be very proud of the final product.

Open Night

On the 2nd of May, as a College, we held our Open Night. We had a number of students, give up their time to help represent the Vocational Area at Parkdale. A huge thank you to Cassie, Caleb, Luke, Jai, Bella and Anthony for being amazing ambassadors for our college.

Year 11 VCE-Vocational Major: ‘Community Health Activity’

As part of the students’ requirements for VCE-VM, they needed to organise a community healthy activity. This activity required them to look at social, mental or physical health aspects and devise an activity for another group to promote healthy living. The Year 11 students organised activities such as: mindfulness with the Year 7s, basketball and football skill sessions and competitions with the Year 10s, healthy breakfasts, gym/workout sessions and treasure hunts with the Year 9s. The students demonstrated organisation and leadership skills and conducted some excellent events, well done.
