STEP Robotics

Every Thursday at 7:30 in the morning you can find a class of dedicated students coding and creating robots. The students work in pairs and are tasked with the challenge of coding their robot to navigate itself through many tracks. The robot navigates its way through the tracks with line-following using the sensors attached to the robot. This class is run by the brilliant teacher Mr Loxham who is always there to lend a helping hand. Overall STEP robotics is a fun challenging team-based activity enjoyed by all the students who attend it.

STEP Coding - ROBO SUMO WRESTLING COMPETITION

Congratulations to our final teams entering the STEP Coding SUMO Edison Robot Competition. Our winners on the day ‘Team FAR’ – Finn, Archie and Rhys - knocked the other teams ‘literally’ out of the sumo ring. On top of that, Archie and Rhys also won the ‘Obstacle Course Competition’ coding their robot to complete a complex and colourful maze they designed.

The students are all looking forward to our VR experience and Game Development Workshop in the city and the STEP celebration night.

STEP Forensics

We had an absolutely amazing Crime Solving Morning a couple of weeks ago, where the fantastic STEP Forensics students set up their crime scenes for the other groups to solve.  The evidence was varied and complex but well done to those discerning students who connected the dots and made sense of the interesting scenarios that were created.  I was beyond pleased with the depth of story telling and level of detail that went into these fabulous scenarios.  Well done everyone!

Year 7 STEP

Our awesome Year 7 STEP students went on an excursion to Quantum Victoria in preparation for our Design a Car unit.  They were introduced to some Engineering CAD software – Fusion 360.  They were able to build on their skills and create some really interesting designs and 3D print them.  They then looked at other CAD software and how you can “mould” designs like clay!  So much fun.
