Koonung swimmers bring home the medals

On Thursday 4 March, 33 students across all year levels attended the Division Swimming Competition at Aquarena Doncaster. The students, although a little chilly at first, thoroughly enjoyed the day and had many success’ in the pool. Sen Li and I were so impressed with their efforts as well as their sportsmanship poolside, where they spent the day watching and cheering on, not just Koonung students, but all competitors. Congratulations to Jowdy Moh, Jet Cheung, Bridget Dods, James Hu, Ava Booth, Cora Davis, Keira Tait, Michael Teo, Charlotte McVie, Justin Bao, Jack Brennan, Dylan Bee, Matilda Will & Joelle Yau who will be heading off to compete in the EMR event next Tuesday 23 March. Good luck to all competitors as you continue to represent and make Koonung very proud. Special congratulations to Jowdy Moh, Keira Tait, Michael Teo and Cora Davis who were all awarded the Age Group Champion in the Division event. What an amazing achievement!

Congratulations and good luck to the Senior Girls Netball, Senior Girls Tennis and Year 8 Girls Softball who have all progressed through to EMR in their respective sports.

Senior Girls and Boys Volleyball

Twenty three keen senior volleyballers went out to Dandenong Volleyball centre to represent Koonung SC in the Whitehorse division competition. Many of them had not played the game for many years but were happy to compete on the day. All were enthusiastic, encouraging towards their peers and developed in their skill level and team work as the games progressed and  represented the school admirably.

In sport it is not all about winning to be successful and this group of students had a lot of laughs and fun despite the results on the day. It was a pleasure to take them on the day. Hopefully next year (as all were Year 11 students) they can win more than one set from their ten tight matches.

Interschool Sport at Koonung

Welcome back to another great year of sport at Koonung. We are very excited to be able to send teams out after a long break in 2020. A few reminders for Interschool Sport:

  1. Check Compass regularly for information about team sign-ups.
  2. Please ensure payment and consent is provided by the due date (at least 3 days prior to the event, otherwise it will result in the student being unable to attend the event)
  3. If students decide to pull out of the event before the day, they MUST let either the teacher coaching the team OR Miss Prosenak know ASAP so that we can find another student as a replacement. If not, the team may not have enough players and be unable to go. Simply leaving your payment/consent unattended on Compass is not enough. This helps us to plan or amend bus bookings, staffing and costs for the day.
