Kinross Wolaroi Students making their mark

Kaydn McLachlan in Year 6 when not at School he can often be found on the tennis court. In recent weeks he has played in the WAS High School Doubles Championships in Bathurst.  He and his partner won the finals so are now the Junior WAS Doubles Champions! In the Singles Championships Kadyn made it to the semi finals where he was beaten by the overall winner. A magnificent achievement.

Harry Oldroyd recently won a national competition from Collins Booksellers which included 118 books. I know I am looking forward to chatting with Harry as to what he is reading.

KWS students are active not only within the School gates but beyond as they are actively involved in the wider community not only on the sporting field but in a wide range of endeavours. We love to share these stories. Please let us know what your children are involved in.

HICES Swimming

On Monday 8 March a team of 24 students represented KWS at the HICES swimming Carnival at SOPAC (Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre). These students - Chloe Provost, Annabel Clinton, Matthew Lowther, Oscar Chandler Sullivan, Phoebe Paynter, Oliver Gerard, Hugo O’Brien, Charlotte Williams, Alexandra Karrasch, Sam Commins, Xavier Zinga, Angus Sawtell, Ben Chambers, Isabelle Provost, Ella Kerdic, Zaro Jalal, Alby Kimmins, Andy Bell, Chrysalide Frecklington, Andie Zinger, Grace Lowther, Tom Karrasch, Oscar Pigot and Elizabeth Croft – are to be congratulated for their efforts in preparing for the carnival and their performances on the day. All students were great ambassadors for the School.

Overall KWS finished first on percentage points. This is where School’s are provided an even playing field as points are averaged out according to the number of total students in a school. We finished second overall on points awarded for where students finished in their events. This was a magnificent achievement by our swimmers. I would like to thank Mr Kim Taylor and Ms Holland for preparing our students so well for the day, for travelling and staying with the team.

There were a number of stand out performances on the day and thirteen of our students are going onto represent HICES, in eighteen events at the CIS Swimming Carnival on 18 March in Sydney. We wish them all the best.
