Principal's Message

School Philosophy

Orchard Grove Primary School is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment that engages curiosity, promotes learning, personal growth and wellbeing for all students. We strive to develop adaptability and resilience so students can become valued members of the local and global communities and be prepared for future life experiences.

From the Acting Principal

What a busy period of time we have had since our last newsletter! Thank you for the support and understanding shown during our short Learning from Home stint. From a school perspective, I would like to thank the teachers and students for their adaptability and resilience with learning at home and at school within the same week.

I have sent out a Compass notification about School Council and calls for nominations in the past few days. We are keen to continue to have the most effective and supportive school council possible and welcome our community to become involved at this level. If you are interested in being a part of our school council, we encourage you to fill in a nomination form and stand for election.

We have also had our information nights this week, with an amazing attendance rate, via Zoom. We did not anticipate such a turn out to some nights and appreciate that the 100-person limit did stop some from attending. We will take that feedback on board for next year, as we feel that using Zoom is a convenient way to run sessions and maximises the ability for families to attend. Thank you to all those who attended; for those that were unable to, please contact classroom teachers for access to the information presented.

We are also looking for some gardening volunteers to help with the garden program for Years Three and Four. If you know of someone who is willing to commit to volunteering once a week, from between 10 am and 1 pm, please let the office know. This will allow our kitchen program to once again become part of the schedule. We are looking for consistent volunteers at this stage, but we will resume parent helpers in the kitchen and garden as soon as we can.

Finally, a big thank you to Jarrod Liston for organising and running the Junior and Senior Athletics Days today and yesterday. We had great weather, and the students loved wearing their house colours and participating in all events.
