From the Chaplain

Rev. Dr Rosalie Clarke

Greetings to all Kinross Wolaroi families

A warm welcome to Term 2.

The reading for last Sunday was about Thomas – the disciple who wanted to see the risen body of Jesus with his own eyes, who wanted to put his own fingers in the wounds of Christ. He would not believe in the resurrection of Jesus just on hearsay.

Over the years Thomas has had a bad rap as someone who did not have sufficient faith. We use the expression, “a doubting Thomas” to describe someone who lacks conviction. John, the evangelist, was encouraging those who read his gospel to believe - even without seeing and touching.

In recent times Thomas has been reinterpreted. He is seen as someone who offers us a particular gift. Faith, by its very nature, has questions. The challenge is for us to live our faith and to live our questions. It is to live our doubts and to live our commitments as we seek experience with the living God. We can do this concurrently – this is both the nature of faith and the journey of life.

Love and prayers,

Rosalie
