Student Representative Council (SRC)

The Student Representative Council of 2022 are proud to announce its elected members and the leadership position holders for 2022. Further we are excited to announce that the SRC has been split into three subcommittees to allow focus on specific ideas and issues from the student body that has come up repeatedly throughout the last few years.

Each year level has one representative in each committee. The three subcommittees include;

  • The Fundraising and General Committee, who are responsible for fundraising efforts of the SRC allowing us to fund the projects we undertake and further tackle general issues or ideas that have arisen by students.
  • The Community and Media Committee, who organise and run community building events, gives reports to the SRC as to what the student body is doing in their year, and writes the newsletter reports.
  • The Learning and Uniform Committee, who look at issues regarding the uniform policy and learning at O’Connor.

If you have something you think the SRC should look at, or you’d like the SRC to know something, have a chat with one of your SRC Representatives and they’ll bring it up at the next meeting!

The Student Representative Council meets fortnightly with committee meetings on the other weeks, and we thank the Support Teachers of The SRC for facilitating this and assisting where all means required. The Support Teachers for 2022 are Ms Roache, Ms Moar, and Ms Trigwell-Lindley.

The purpose of the SRC is not just to run fundraisers and to try to get the uniform changed. No. Instead we do many other things that just aren't seen as much. One of the first things we did at the beginning of the year is to work out what exactly the purpose is;

  1. The Student Representative Council of O’Connor Catholic College;
  2. Advocate for individual students or groups attending O’Connor Catholic College.
  3. Engages with the whole of the student body, and seeks feedback, advice and ideas from students when required on all facets of student life, including but not limited to;
    1. curriculum;
    2. approach to teaching and learning;
    3. school rules and policy;
    4. information technology infrastructure;
    5. Health and wellbeing;
    6. built environment; and
    7. uniform.
  4. Strives to build a supportive environment and culture at O’Connor Catholic College, in which the voices of students, teachers, parents and support staff are respected and heard.
  5. Fundraises to support the activities and affairs of the Student Representative Council, and approved charities or causes.
  6. Acts as a conduit between school management, teachers, students and formal advisory committees of the school on areas and issues of mutual interest
  7. Seeks guidance from other members of the O’Connor Catholic College community to support the best outcomes for students

The SRC is here to be a voice for the students, we want to advocate for you and the issues students have. If there is something that you want changed or looked into, perhaps the way something is taught doesn't work right with you, or you want to be recognised in the SRC for something you have done well, or a multitude of other things feel free to contact your representative for the SRC.

Thank you and we look forward to what is to come in the near future!!
