What: Australian STEM Video Game Challenge

Who: Students

Free to enter, teams of 1-4, must have parent permission and be registered by school staff member – speak to Mr Drew Thomas or Mrs Elly Martin if interested.

Facilitating engagement with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, students learn vital skills for the future through designing, building and testing an original video game. This is not tied to any particular programming language and in 2022 the theme is NETWORKS.

 

What: BBLLLEN Apprenticeship and Traineeship Information Evening

Who: Any student (especially Year 10 to 12) interested in exploring apprenticeship and/or traineeships as a post-school option. This session is also really beneficial to parents, guardians and career influencers.

More info: This session has traditionally been an information sharing event as well as a networking and recruitment session, so it is very valuable for students considering applying for apprenticeships/traineeships. What: BBLLLEN Inspiring Careers in Health Camp

Who: up to six Year 11 or 12 students from MSCW keen to explore health careers.

When: 13-15 July, 2022

More info: The Inspiring Careers in Health Camp is a three day, live-in experience for 66 year 11-12 students from Baw Baw and Latrobe Secondary Schools. 

In partnership with Federation University and TAFE Gippsland, these students will be introduced to a range of Health related careers and will get the opportunity to gain knowledge on pathways and employment options within the Health sector. 

Activities will take place at both Fed Uni and TAFE Gippsland and accommodation will be on-campus at Fed Uni.

What: Monash Virtual VCE Revision Sessions 2022 

Who: Year 11 and 12 students studying Unit 3&4 Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Psychology and Software Development, as well as Further, Methods and Specialist Mathematics.

When: Sessions occur across the year based on topics covered in Unit 3&4 study and the final session is an Exam Revision session in Oct/Nov.

More info: Monash Virtual VCE Revision Sessions are offering a series of free, interactive revision classes, delivered over Zoom, focused on supporting girls studying VCE Units 3 and 4 in STEM studies (but all are welcome). For each subject there will be six sessions over the course of a year, each focusing on a different area of the curriculum. Students are able to register for any or all sessions for subjects they are currently undertaking.
