Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation (Narrabeen)

Monday 7 November to Wednesday 9 November 2022.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Stage 3 Camp destination is now Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation (Narrabeen). Due to an increase in costs for coach, accommodation and attractions in Canberra, we have made a reluctant decision to change the Stage 3 camp.  A booking has been made for a two-night/three-day school camp for Years 5 and 6 at Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation (Narrabeen), from Monday 7 November to Wednesday 9 November 2022.

Travel will be by bus. The camp has excellent facilities and provides a variety of activities for the children. All activities are coordinated and supervised by fully qualified camp instructors, working with our attending school staff.

Students will have the opportunity to experience a Sport and Recreation camp. The camp will complement learning in Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) and will provide students with opportunities to build positive relationships with their peers and grow self-confidence.

The aim of this camp is to provide students with a fun, engaging and educational experience in a beautiful environment. All activities have significant developmental benefits for students, with skills learned from the camp experience successfully being applied to many of the Stage 3 outcomes.   

Program outcomes include:

• Obtaining a sense of self-worth and dignity 

• Understanding and appreciating the natural environment 

• Promoting a caring community 

• Creating challenging and recreational activities through a variety of safe environments 

• Promoting healthy lifestyles 

• Developing skills to more effectively understand, relate to and work with others 

• Developing initiative, independence and a sense of responsibility, leadership skills, social skills and interpersonal skills

Activities at Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation include: 

• Rock Climbing 
• Bush Cooking
• Navigation and Bushwalking
• Canoeing 
• Adventure Based learning Sessions / Initiative activity 
• Night Games 
• Traditional Indigenous games 
• Flying fox and Giant swing

A note with the changes and requests for deposits will be going home today.
