City Art Excursion

Grade 5/6

On Tuesday 5 April, Grade 5/6 students from both classes, along with Mrs Belbin and Mrs Collinson, went to Hobart CBD. We have started a Street Art Unit in our Art classes so it seemed a good idea to check out some of the Street Art in Hobart, in particular around Bidencopes Lane.

For the students being up close to the works, hopefully helped them gain an understanding about the difference between graffiti and street art and how they sometimes overlap. I think it will also help them to see that each artist works differently in size, scale and method.

We followed this up with a visit to TMAG. We roamed around the galleries looking at everything from the weird and wonderful to the thought provoking.

For our next Art lesson I look forward to debriefing about what the students thought and cant wait to see what they make next Term.
