Year 9 Key dates:

Tuesday 26th April - First Day of Term 2

HomeGroup vs HomeGroup Volleyball Round Robin

Throughout the term students from each home group represent their class in a Volleyball competition at lunch. As the weeks went on, home group classes were eliminated. On Friday 31st March during Period 5 and 6 the year 9 cohort watched the grand final between 9G and 9I.

All year 9s were in attendance to watch the thrilling back and forth Grand final between 9G and 9I. The first set went to 9I behind some brilliant team work and serving from Anthony Peniata. However, 9G held strong in winning comfortably in the second set thanks to some amazing defence from Mortada Kadhum and 9G team work. This set up a nailbiter between the two homegroups in the 3rd set with the scores 18 each, Divine Uluakiahoia stood up and brought it home for 9G scoring the match winning point.

A huge congratulations to 9G and 9I for making the grand final and all year 9s who participated in the tournament.

Celebrating Harmony Day in Year 9

Thank you to the students who participated in Harmony Day by wearing their traditional dress. It was great to see so many different colours and patterns, learn the names of the clothing and discuss where the clothing would be worn and why.

Year 9 Electives

Year 9 students this term have had their first experience of choosing subjects that peaked their interest. Students have had a variety of electives to choose from that cover a range of skills and knowledge. Some of these include Build a Business, Creative Streaks, All Systems Go and Project 2030. It has been great to see and hear positive feedback from students and teachers about the electives and we are looking forward to seeing the end products of what is created.

Build A Business

In Term 1 of the Build A Business selective, we have learnt about the different business structures of the economy and how they can influence an entrepreneur's business or enterprise. Throughout this selective, we have learnt a vast amount of interesting vocabulary related to business. We have had the explore a range of different young and successful entrepreneurs with inspiring stories which has helped us understand what it takes into becoming an entrepreneur. As part of our Term 1 assessment, I conducted research on Coco Chanel. With such an inspiring history, I learnt of her many characteristics which have contributed to her success as an entrepreneur. We are currently learning about the global economy which will further lead into building our own business idea in Term 2.
