Year 8 Report

Middle School

Year 8

What a start to the school year our 8’s have had so far! We wanted to congratulate each individual on completing the first term of the 2022 school year. It has been quite a while since our year 8’s have completed a full term of schooling and we should all be proud of our continuous efforts. It has been amazing to see students continue to build resilience, show respect to their peers, teachers and themselves, as well as being able to build respectful relationships with those around them. Thank you to all parents and guardians for their continuous support throughout the term.

Year 8 students have been involved in many different school based activities as well as new subjects this term:

  • Interschool sports
  • House activities
  • International Women's Day
  • National Day against Violence and Bullying
  • Harmony Day celebrations
  • Music
  • Performing Arts
  • Ceramics

Students have done great with moving through and around the buildings and respecting our new buildings that we are very lucky to have. Students have enjoyed exploring the new buildings and new specialist rooms. To promote student voice and agency, we asked students what lunchtime clubs they would like to have and have now introduced Sporting club, Book club and Games club. These clubs are open to all students and will continue to run in term 2. The clubs were created in order to help students build relationships with others in the cohort and also give students a safe space during lunch.

End of Term Assembly:

Year 8 students participated in an end of term assembly where we celebrated all successes in the term. Many students were awarded for showing all school values and school spirit. MVP awards were given to those that showed sportsmanship and kindness during House Activities. Students were also introduced to their SRC and House Representatives. During the end of term assembly the year 8’s had the opportunity to listen to an amazing music performance organised by Cameron and played by the Year 8 guitar ensemble.

Congratulations to all year 8’s that received an award in term 1, we look forward to continuing to see all of our year 8 students strive to achieve their best in term 2.
