Maths Update

Term 1 Maths at Edgars Creek

It's been a great start to the year for Maths at ECSC. In addition to greeting many new students, we have enjoyed welcoming new teachers to the Maths team, who bring with them years of experience as well as new ideas and enthusiasm for supporting the learning growth of all our students.

We have four classes of year 11 VCE Maths running in 2022 - it is an exciting time watching our senior students begin to branch out into their future pathways, and it's wonderful to see so many choosing Maths at this level.

The new buildings have provided many opportunities for our teachers and students to work collaboratively and utilise the spaces in new ways. Watching students support each other in their learning, and embracing alternate learning spaces has been wonderful. Our main goal in Maths is to ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn and achieve growth, and it is pleasing to see that happening every day.

Most encouraging of all has been the wonderful feedback we've received from our year 7 students when asked about their favourite subject this term:

My favourite subject this term was maths. I chose the subject because I really like doing maths and something that made me like it more was that my teacher was really funny and kind.I’ve loved maths especially since I have an amazing teacher like Michael (and we get a lot of chocolate)Maths, no questions asked, I used to hate maths, and I mean HATE, but because of the best teacher in the world Audrey, I LOVE maths now.Maths. Really fun and engaging as well as learning in a fun way.Maths - so interesting to learn something different everyday
